Biography of Kehkasha Sabah (b. 1985. Dhaka, Bangladesh)

Kehkasha Sabah is an independent curator, visual artist, and researcher. Her curatorial practice shows different aspects of social inclusion, human rights, geopolitics, cultural-identity, contemporary time, and space. Her ongoing curatorial research is to experiment with process-based curation and exploring the term 'Curator' in several contexts.

As a curator and researcher, she has been working for the past eight years and done more than a dozen contemporary exhibitions with different collaborators. One of her recent association was as a guest curator from (2019-2020) for the ‘Collective Body’ exhibition at Dhaka Art Summit 2020.  Also, in 2020 she has curated 8th AUW Photo Festival, Chittagong , and during the first lockdown of global pandemic she developed her own seminal curatorial research 'De|Real' and presented online, which is partly sponsored by EMK center Dhaka. 

Her most recent Interview published in C-Print, a Sweden based art journal. She has a numerous articles published in News paper, periodicals and Exhibition catalogues, essentially given focus on local art scene and artists. For her forty in profile writing she was invited to write, an artist review/profile on a biographical book PREEMA DONNA (ISBN 978-984-34-7377-6) published January 2020, and 15 local art initiatives profile texts for DAS2020 Catalogue. Kehkasha receives her BFA and MFA from the Faculty of Fine Arts, University of Dhaka. She won several awards and grants including, Talent Recognition Award of the Society for Promotion of Bangladesh Art (SPBA) in 2019, CIMAM travel grant ‘Museum in Transition’ 2018 in Sweden, and the Honorable Mention Award from Gonesh Haloi Young Researcher Grant 2017, Bengal Arts program. She is one of the founding members of Art Lab Dhaka, between 2015-2017 she worked as a curator at Kalakendra, Dhaka. She is the former Art-lead Program Manager for Depart, biannual critical art magazine in Bangladesh. She is currently working (May'21) as a researcher representing Bangladesh, in a Goethe Institute funded project spanning between four South Asian countries.
